I started surfing from a young age, close to a cornish marina in the south of England. Now, I love close to the Marina in Oceanside CA, it’s a ocean town just north of the city of San Diego. It inspired the name of this surf site; big-break-marina.com.
I was born and bread in london, England; and moved to the USA in early 2010.
In England I spent my childhood surfing in Cornwall and Newquay (check this out for resources) and learned a lot there.
Surfing in the atlantic is quite a bit different to the pacific mostly because it’s not dangerously cold most of the time; and a lot of the year I don’t even need a wetsuit.
I also have been a huge aquarium buff most of my life so was drawn to the ocean and its marine life from a young age.
This is going to be a small passion project, I’ve always wanted to have my own tiny corner of the internet to put pen to paper and share my surfing experiences from around the world.
This is not a superficial or advertising blog – it’s really just for me to show friends and family the latest surf.
Having surfed all over the world – it’s a great way to meet people, or as a solo activity. You don’t need to be fit either, most of us have got blown out knees or have had hip surgery from old sports injuries and can still do it without a problem.
Peace out,
Jakey
